Union Berlin vs. RB Leipzig: Preview and betting tips
Union Berlin will welcome the stagnant RB Leipzig in a dress rehearsal before the game against Slavia. Last year’s title aspirant is languishing in the middle of the table and hoping for a better tomorrow. Who will succeed and get closer to the Top 4?
Union Berlin will welcome the stagnant RB Leipzig in a dress rehearsal before the game against Slavia. Last year’s title aspirant is languishing in the middle of the table and hoping for a better tomorrow. Who will succeed and get closer to the Top 4?
Union are happy with the way the season has gone so far. From sixth place in the table, they are only four points behind third-placed Leverkusen, and in the Conference Europa League they only need a home win in the last round to qualify for the knockout stage.
Leipzig, however, cannot celebrate given its ambitions. They are only eighth, two points behind Berlin and only third in the Champions League. And the runner-up last year could still lose it.
Union are relying on goals from Taiwo Awoniyi, the Nigerian striker has already scored thirteen times and added four assists. Left back Niko Gießelmann is also productive, author of three goals and four assists.
Emil Forsberg has managed to score six goals for Leipzig since August, as has new signing Dominik Szoboszlai. French midfielder Christopher Nkunku has an incredible 13+12 record.
Union have struggled defensively, getting at least two goals in four of their last six games. Leipzig, on the other hand, are not doing well away from home and haven’t won once in the league.
Given the improving performance of the away team’s offense, I believe Leipzig will win.
