Union Berlin may have only begun their third season in the German Bundesliga, but they have fit in like a glove in the prestigious league. This season, the Berlin side is still unbeaten!
Urs Fisher’s charges have so far drawn three times and won once in the German top competition, they have come through the third league Türkgücü Munich in the cup and in the EKL play-offs they have come through a double-header with Finnish team KuPS with a clean slate.
Union Berlin has almost no experience of Europe, but some of its players do. What else does this Berlin club have going for it? In Germany, the Christmas carols sung in the Union stadium are very famous.
What did Urs Fisher say about Slavia?
Apparently, the Union coach has also watched footage of some of Slavia’s European matches. What did he deduce from them?
“We are all looking forward to it, we are expecting a very well-knit team, I have watched the matches of Slavia against Legia and Ferencváros, where they created a lot of chances but couldn’t convert them. Anyway, they are a very good team, nothing easy awaits us.”
“The whole team of Slavia is interesting, there are some great individuals. Stanciu is a very creative and running player, Traoré is also a very good central midfielder. Plavšić or Ekpai are very fast.”
And Fisher probably hasn’t seen the league games in which young midfielder Daniel Samek has shone.
