Karolína Muchová has been on a fantastic run of form at the Australian Open and has now made her way to the semi-finals. She lost her first set of the tournament, but that doesn’t have to bother her at all.

Karolína Muchová’s amazing run at the Australian Open is not over! On the contrary, not even the world number one and one of the biggest favourites to win the tournament, Ashleigh Barty, could stop her.

After the valuable scalps of Pliskova and Mertens, the Moravian-born player has the most valuable scalp. She lost the first set of the tournament, but given the win over the world number one, who also played at home, she doesn’t have to worry about it at all.

Muchova lost the first set to Barty by a big margin of 1:6, though, as she was clearly nervous and made a lot of unforced errors. However, she dominated the next two sets. She won the second set 6:3, the third 6:2.

During the second set, the native of Olomouc called the doctor and headed to the stadium, but fortunately the match was finished, and successfully! According to Muchova, this was the key moment of the match.

She said she was dizzy and out of it. “I got myself together mentally. The break got me back to normal,” Muchová said. When she was leading afterwards, she tried not to think about the fact that her first Grand Slam semifinal was coming up. “But now I’m happy, of course,” she added.

Muchova will face Jennifer Brady in the semifinals.

But apart from her, we can also celebrate success in the doubles. Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova made it to the final and will play for the title.
