Unbelievable! Bergwijn turned the game around with goals in the 95th and 97th minute, when he could have been sent off
An incredible finish to Leicester’s match with Tottenham directed by Steven Bergwijn. The Dutch winger played for a red card in the setup, then turned the game in favour of the visiting Tottenham with two goals.
An incredible finish to Leicester’s match with Tottenham directed by Steven Bergwijn. The Dutch winger played for a red card in the setup, then with two goals he turned the match in favour of the visiting Tottenham.
In the first quarter of the match, Harry Kane shone in particular. First his shot was stopped on the goal line by Luke Thomas, then the England captain hit the crossbar with his head.
In the 25th minute, the home side took the lead out of nowhere. Patson Dak was lucky to get the ball in the penalty area and fired the ball past Hugo Lloris. In the 38th minute the game was level, Kane, after a Harry Winks pass, got rid of a defender with a hack and then had no problem scoring.
Tottenham continued to have more big chances, but Leicester went into the lead after the change of sides. James Maddison did well to find the whitewash and his shot under the crossbar gave Lloris no chance to react.
Just when it looked like Spurs would go away without a point, Steven Bergwijn started to shine. He came on in the 79th minute and in the 95th minute he equalised to make it 1-1. His teammates quickly took the ball and raced to the halfway line.
Leicester lost the ball quickly after the ball was played, Bergwijn took another great chance with three passes, rounded the goalkeeper and shot against the bar to turn the game around. Only eighty seconds separated the two goals. Unbelievable, unprecedented!
Interestingly, a minute before the first goal, Bergwijn shoved Caglar Syonco with his hands outside the box. He could have easily seen a red card for his unsporting gesture, but the referee only showed him a yellow card. VAR did not examine the situation.
