The home team was more active in the beginning of the match, but the opponent had only one chance to take the lead. Adam Hložek played the ball to Moussa Diaby and he cleared the ball to the back post. Angel Correa could have equalized quickly, but Lukas Hrádecký was able to deal with the shot in the middle.
In the 22nd minute, the crowd celebrated as Yannick Carrasco hit the near post after a one-touch combination. Five minutes later, however, Atleti made a mistake in their own half and Callum Hudson-Odoi was alone in front of Jan Oblak.

A penalty was then whistled. The ball was taken by Carrasco, but Hradecky saved it and Saul Niguez’s shot hit the crossbar. The Athletics can no longer advance to the eighth round and will face Bayer in the last round.
