Napoli only drew 0:0 at Bologna in the fifth round of Serie A on Sunday. The team added only one point to the table of the current edition of the Italian top competition, and with a total of eight points it is seventh in the league table.
Victor Osimhen could certainly have changed the result. The Nigerian striker earned a penalty kick in the 72nd minute when home defender Riccardo Calafiori played his hand in the big whitewash.
Referee Giovanni Ayroldi subsequently ruled it an infringement and awarded a penalty to Napoli. It was Osimhen who set up the ball for the penalty spot, but he sent his shot just wide of the right post.
New Partenopei coach Rudi Garcia substituted Osimhen in the 86th minute and Giovanni Simeone came on. And, as the cameras caught, the twenty-four-year-old offensive star was thoroughly annoyed when he scolded the Napoli coach.
But that’s not all, the missed penalty had an aftermath after the match. Napoli’s official TikTok account posted a video documenting the whole situation and mocking the unsuccessful shooter, according to the words of his agent Roberto Calenda.
This is unacceptable!
It already seemed that the situation would be calmed down with an apology to coach Garcia. However, on Tuesday night, Osimhen’s agent issued an extraordinary statement.
“What happened today on Napoli’s official profile on the TikTok platform is unacceptable. The video mocking Victor was first published and then, but now with a delay, deleted.
A serious fact that causes very serious harm to the player and does not contribute to the treatment that the boy has suffered recently due to media trials and fake news,” Football Italia quotes Calenda as saying.
“We reserve the right to take legal action and any useful initiative to protect Victor,” Calenda’s agent added.
Finally, it should be noted that Osimhen has still not signed a new contract. His current one expires at the end of June 2025. The Lagos native deleted all videos related to Napoli on his Instagram account after the incident.
