Ukraine vs. Ireland: preview and betting tips
Ukraine will conclude a tough June national team meeting with a match against Ireland. They will be the clear favourites at home, while their opponents, on the other hand, tuned in with a 3:0 derby win against the Scots. What to expect from the match?
Ukraine is presenting sympathetic performances. After beating the Scots in the semi-final of the 2022 World Cup play-offs in Qatar, they fell out unluckily against Wales, but they fixed their appetite in the Nations League, where they beat both the Irish and the Armenians.
Ireland, on the other hand, cannot be satisfied. At the beginning of the third edition of the competition, the shameful 0:1 loss to Armenia, then the islanders lost to Ukraine by the same score. They got their first points in the third round when they crushed the Scots 3:0 at home.
Although he does not play much in West Ham, winger Andriy Yarmolenko is the mainstay and captain of Ukraine. Midfielders Oleksandr Zinchenko of Manchester City and Ruslan Malinovskyi of Atalanta Bergamo are also important figures.
The visitors are again led by Callum Robinson, the West Bromwich striker has scored eight goals and assisted nine times this season. Burnley’s Nathan Collins has made a splash, the talented stopper even finding himself nominated for the Premier League’s best player for April.
Ukraine’s defence has been excellent, conceding only eight goals in their last eleven games.
That doesn’t play into the hands of the Irish, who on the other hand have scored more than once in just one of their last four games, just a round back against the Scots.
Considering the Ukrainians have outplayed their opponents in all their June games, I expect them to beat the struggling Irish.
