Ukraine vs Austria: preview and betting tips
A battle for everything. That’s one sentence to describe what awaits us in Monday’s Group C programme at the Bucharest stadium. Ukraine only need a point to advance, but the Austrians should also celebrate a draw.
A battle for everything. That’s one sentence to describe what awaits us in Monday’s Group C programme at the Bucharest stadium. Ukraine only need a point to advance, but the Austrians should also celebrate a draw.
The Ukrainians entered the tournament with a luxury match against the Netherlands, in which 5 goals were scored and coach Shevchenko’s charges were reaching for a point. Andriy Yarmolenko and Roman Yaremchuk were especially furious in the match, scoring both goals and Yaremchuk also added an assist.
In the second game, on the other hand, it was the Ukrainians who were worried about the result. Northern Macedonia had long troubled the Eastern European footballers and the 2-1 victory was not easy to come by. But in the end, Ukraine managed it and got the all-important 3 points in the relegation battle.
The Austrians, like their closest opponents, lost to the Netherlands. In their first match, they managed to push North Macedonia through with a strong finish and won 3:1.
The second match already brought a 0::2 defeat and with a score of 3::3 they, like Ukraine, have a +-0 difference and it is interesting to see what would happen in case of a draw with Ukraine.
At that point, both teams would have 4 points, the same match and the same score difference. So the goals scored statistic would have to come into play, which Ukraine has the better one thanks to the 4:4 score.
Shevchenko’s team needs a point to be sure. But they are certainly not counting on such a result in the cabinet of a country that is not allowed to play Russia for political reasons.
