UFC? It will never be a closed chapter. But now I’m part of something that I see a lot of meaning and potential in, Vémola said

His last defeat was to Attila Vegh. At the time, Karlos Vémola was hoping to return to the UFC, where he was the first Czech. But that didn’t happen.
Now he is 37 years old and Jiri Prochazka shines in the UFC, holding the welterweight title. He has become the most successful MMA fighter in our small country.
But Vémola himself is not giving up the battle for the UFC, even though he must realize that it is not very realistic. “It will never be a closed chapter. Never say never. But now I’m part of something that I see a lot of meaning and potential in.
The fact that Oktagon has been the biggest Czech-Slovak MMA organization for a long time was perceived by all of us. That’s the way it was. But now Oktagon is heading towards being the best European organization. And I’m convinced of that. There are already rumours that London, where I spent my youth, may come after Germany,” he told iSport.
He then added that he would like to fight a huge world name by the end of his career, which hopefully the Octagon will be able to afford him in the future. Back to the UFC though, would he take the offer if it came?
“There would be multiple aspects to it. I have a lot of commitments, obligations, four kids, and Oktagon takes very good care of me financially. And, as we know, starting contracts in the UFC are not great. I would definitely talk to Ondra about it too. Even though I have it in my contract that if I’m approached by the UFC I can leave, I wouldn’t do it without mutual communication,” he added.
Now, however, Vémola has to focus on the tournament in Štvanica, which is scheduled for July 23. His opponent and the welterweight title will be Aleksandar Ilic.
