UFC boss announces who Teixeira will face for the “Walking” title! A chance of a lifetime for the welterweight number seven
I don’t think anyone expected this. After Jiri Prochazka’s injury, things are happening in the welterweight division! Even the fight between Jan Blachowicz and Magomed Ankalaev didn’t determine who will be the new champion. A chance of a lifetime awaits the number seven in the division.

It’s almost starting to look like the UFC is starting to give away the welterweight title on the fly. Losing it to Jiri Prochazka should keep the division active, alive. But questions are being raised as to whether the organization’s boss, Dana White, might be overdoing it.
Procházka was supposed to defend his title right now at UFC 282 in a rematch with Glover Teixeira, but due to a serious shoulder injury he was unable to make the fight. The Brazilian, who was offered Magomed Ankalaev as an opponent, was also knocked out, and would have accepted Jan Blachowicz.
In the end we saw a title fight between Ankalaev and Blachowicz, but even after the end of the title fight we will not know the new champion of the semi-heavyweight division. One referee saw Blachowicz winning, the second saw Ankalaev winning and the third referee awarded a draw for a change.
The semi-heavyweight division is still without a champion. However, as Procházka himself and his coach Martin Karaivanov said on social media after the aforementioned fight, “everyone knows who the champion is”.
But White seems to be prepared for this possibility. The unexpected draw gives Teixeira a chance to try to win the belt back in January. The UFC boss also revealed who his opponent will be right after UFC 282.
Teixeira will get my hands?
At UFC 283 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Teixeira will fight Jamahal Hill in front of a home crowd. Hill, meanwhile, is only the number seven ranked fighter in the division and hasn’t beaten anyone in the current top ten of the weight class.
Hill currently holds a three-fight win streak, winning all three fights early. He has consecutive wins over Jimmy Crute, Johnny Walker and Thiago Santos.
The tournament will take place on January 21. Will Teixeira get compensation for the way the UFC treated him after the Walker injury? We’ll have to wait for the answer.
