The UFC has another big tournament ahead of it and another big fight that could go down in history. Islam Makhachev has his first defense as the new lightweight champion. After his win over Charles Oliveira, he will be challenged by Alexander Volkanovski.
Volkanovski has been the featherweight champion for quite some time, however he wanted another challenge and so he will attempt to become a two-time UFC champion. But it won’t be easy. Makhachev is great with the weight and has great qualities.
However, both fighters have fantastic scores that would make anyone proud. While Makhachev holds a record of 23-1 with his only loss coming in the UFC in 2015, Volkanovski is 25-1 with his only loss coming in 2013 before joining the UFC.
There are reasons for that. As already mentioned, the Russian should have the weight advantage, plus he is a great wrestler and he is certainly not bad in the stand-up department either, which, as he announced, he intends to prove against Volkanovski.
And that could be an advantage for the Australian. He’s complex. He shouldn’t have a problem with weight in theory, he used to play rugby and weighed around 100 kilograms. Plus, he’s a true bulldog, almost impossible to break, mentally strong, and the home crowd will propel him forward.
Volkanovski is certainly not without his chances, but the most worthwhile bet is probably on the wheels. It offers the best odds appreciation in proportion with minimal risk.
The first round will definitely be more of a taste test and everything will get into full swing in the second round. It won’t be a surprise if the match goes all the way to the 3rd round and beyond. Considering the odds, it’s an ideal bet.
