Sparta enters the European Cups as the first Czech representative. It will be joined by Viktoria Plzeň and Slovácko (European Conference League) on Thursday and Slavia (Champions League) and Jablonec (Europa League) in two weeks’ time.
Sparta will kick off their Champions League battle on Tuesday. With Rapid, it will play not only for its promotion and its coefficient, but also for the league coefficient, which will go down rapidly before next season.
So down that the Fortuna League will lose one participant in the cups for next season. But more importantly, the second team of the league will no longer go to the Champions League qualification, but only to the European Conference League, which is a rapid relegation and a reduction of the chances for the regular group.
So this year, the game is on for five Czech teams to go to Europe again in the 2023/24 season. And for that, Sparta also need to get valuable wins or draws in the qualifiers.
The head of the board of directors of Slavia wished good luck to all Czech clubs and, since he made it public on Tuesday morning, he meant especially Sparta’s next match.
