Slavia managed to knock out Fenerbahce Istanbul in the first knockout round of the European Conference League, beating them away and at home. On Friday, the draw for the eighth-final was held, in which it was decided that the Susians would face their Austrian opponents.
The Prague team will play a double match against LASK Linz, one of the leading Austrian clubs, which is not currently enjoying its best season.
Moreover, the Austrian club made a mistake on its club website and gained the attention of Jaroslav Tvrdík, the boss of Slavia.
LASK informed on its website that the Sešiovans played in the Europa League this season. He also pointed out that his former player Mads Emil Madsen was playing for Slavia.
How are the fans reacting?
The Austrian opponent made the Slavic fans happy. They were relieved that they did not have to go to the Netherlands again to face Feyenoord, who were also in the game. Even coach Jindřich Trpišovský did not wish that.
There are several reasons to be happy. “A playable opponent, and it’s not far away,” the supporters of the Susians wash their hands.
According to some Slavs, this is the most playable possible opponent that Slavs have faced in the draw. However, they urge not to underestimate them.
“The best possible draw. The attractiveness of the opponents is nice, but the progression is even more so. Slavia has always come up against better teams. For once, they deserve to be in the role of favourites too,” another supporter is clear.
