Turkey vs. Wales: preview and betting tips
Turkey will try to make up for Friday’s loss to Italy in their match against Wales. Both teams would like to win, three points would give Turkey a chance to qualify, while Wales would be assured of reaching the eight-finals. Who will do better?
Turkey will try to make up for Friday’s loss to Italy in their match against Wales. Both teams would like to win, three points would give Turkey a chance to qualify, while Wales would be assured of reaching the eight-finals. Who will do better?
Turkey played the opening game of the championship. In that game, they were no match for Italy, who scored three goals and conceded none themselves. If it wants to advance, it must beat either Wales or Switzerland.
Wales are relatively satisfied after the first round. It will take a 1-1 draw with Switzerland given the way the game went and, if it beats Turkey, it would already be assured of promotion to the top 16 teams in the tournament.
Burak Yilmaz, the author of sixteen goals and five assists for Lille of France, will be on the attack for Turkey. Midfielder Okay Yokuslu, defender Caglar Soyuncu and all-rounder Hakan Calhanoglu have also had a good season.
Wales are relying on Gareth Bale, who had a good second half of the season at Tottenham. Daniel James, Manchester United’s pacey winger, also put in a good performance in the first game.
The Turks enjoy playing Wales, they have not lost to them for over forty years, the last time in 1981.
There are few goals in Wales’ matches. Since the start of 2019, no more than two goals have fallen 76 per cent of the time.
Given that Wales play to a half-time draw in most games, and also given that they don’t have to chase a win, I think we’ll go into the cabins with a draw.
