Trpišovský: Sor is a neverending story. Will he play against Raków?
Yira Sor is Slavia’s main weapon in the European Cup. However, he has been on sick leave for over a month now and his condition is still mysterious. How is he, or maybe Lukas Provod, before Thursday’s game?
Yira Sor is Slavia’s main weapon in the European Cup. However, he has been on sick leave for over a month now and his condition is still mysterious. How is he, or maybe Lukas Provod, before Thursday’s game?
Last season, Sor was a revelation. Slavia bought him from Banik for 30 million crowns in the winter and the young Nigerian immediately started to pay off.
He scored six goals and added three assists in six Conference League games. But he was not so successful in the league, scoring once in ten games. His speed and more open play in the cups made him a good fit in Europe.
And he proved it in the first Conference game against St. Joseph’s, where he scored twice. But he hasn’t played a minute since.
He is still suffering from a sore groin, so he was not available for the opening league games against Hradec Kralove and Zlin, nor for the game against Panathinaikos. He had already travelled to the rematch in Greece and Trpišovský hoped that he would be able to recover, but despite the pain medication, Sor’s groin did not allow him to play.
And the problems continue, with the 22-year-old speedster unavailable against Jablonec, Raków and Pardubice. But Slavia would need their cup demon, as they will be making up for a one-goal loss against the Polish side at home.
“We will wait now, there is some chance with Lukáš Provod, we will see the nevereneding story with Yiro Sor, if he will be able to play at least some part of the game with pain pills,” coach Jindřich Trpišovský told Slavia TV.
“There is nowhere to go, even those with bigger or smaller pains have to get over it and they have to give it their absolute all on Thursday,” the Slavia coach added.
