Trpišovský on the deployment of Krmenčík and interest in Olayinka and Zima
On Thursday, Slavia will face a rematch with Legia Warsaw for qualification to the Europa League group stage. However, most of the pre-match press conference was devoted to the players’ movement in the club and their health condition.
Alongside Petar Musa, speculation surrounding Jan Boril was also addressed. Greek side PAOK Thessaloniki were supposed to be interested in him, but the clubs ultimately failed to reach an agreement.
“There was interest in Honza Boril, but after a strategic agreement we agreed that the team needs him. He would have deserved it for his performance and service here. We had a discussion that resulted in Honza staying.”
Peter Olayinka has spent the last hours in Denmark negotiating a transfer to Copenhagen. It looked like a hand was up his sleeve, but Slavia eventually rejected the offer due to the low amount.
“Peter Olayinka had an offer from Copenhagen, where he flew to, that’s why he didn’t come with us. However, during the day I received information that he will join back the team in the evening because the negotiations fell through. We are missing a lot of wing players, so we are counting on him for the Legia match.”
To make matters worse, foreign scouts are also watching 20-year-old stopper David Zima. According to the Slavia manager, he is not the only one.
“A lot of scouts from different clubs came to watch David’s last matches. They were also at the last match with Legia. Torino is one of the clubs that was at the match. Negotiations are going on between clubs and agents, but it’s not just with this club.”
Michael Krmencik is expected to make his debut in a red and white jersey on Thursday. He is a guest of Slavia this season from Bruges, but he has not been able to play so far due to injury.
“Michael is with us, he has been in full training since Monday. He is available, but the question is for how long, it will certainly not be from the beginning.”
Ondřej Kúdela and Jan Bořil will also enjoy their first cup minutes this year. The former was serving time for alleged racism, while the latter was treating an injury from the summer Euros.
“Ondřej Kúdela and Honza Bořil are in their fifth year of training. They are defensive players, where we had a problem in European matches this year. Goals fall after certain situations in football, but we are not used to it. On the European stage you bleed twice as much for every mistake. It’s not a coincidence that we didn’t get a goal in the matches Ondra played this year,” Trpišovský concluded.
