Slavia didn’t manage the opening match against Legia Warsaw as expected. One of the reasons was a bad run by goalkeeper Ondrej Kolar, after which the Polish team took the lead. What did coach Jindřich Trpišovský say at the press conference about Kolář’s frequent mistakes?
Slavia played a good game, they could have been in the lead, but instead they were losing. Holeš missed the run of the attacking Emreli and Kolář had to think for a long time whether to run or not. until it was too late.
The Seškis managed to equalize, but then they got a beautiful goal. The last goal of the game was scored by Masopust in stoppage time of the first half.
Kolář was criticized after the match, the goalkeeper is very insecure and this is his third big mistake, after which Slavia received a goal.
“We are trying to support him, he did something here and he proved it. But a goal like that would leave a mark on anyone in the game, he feels very responsible for the situation, he’s probably having the worst time I’ve known him. Moreover, in the games we’ve played, there aren’t many situations where Ondra could help, catchable shots.
The first goal was scored after one of the unnecessary long balls, the opponent kicked the ball and it went over us. You can see it on Ondra especially when playing with his feet, he plays easier than before, which makes the game suffer. We are all trying to work with him to get his confidence back.
Everybody makes mistakes, that’s football, but we need him to get back the confidence he had. We need a game where he has an opportunity to back us up. It’s also about passing, we don’t have players up top who can fight for long balls, we need to help him so he can help the team,” said Jindřich Trpišovský at the press conference.
Now the question is whether it would be better to give Kolář a weekend off to rest, especially mentally. Otherwise, the club would risk another messed up match.
