Slavia failed to make it through the final group stage match of the Conference Europa League and will not be seen in the European Cup in the spring. Why didn’t it work out this time? This is what coach Jindřich Trpišovský tried to explain at the press conference.

After the group draw, there were opinions on social media that promotion from first place was certain and Slavia were heading to the final, which will be played in Eden. However, these predictions were far from the truth.

The Seškis first drew at Sivasspor, but after the win against Ballkani came two defeats against Cluj and it was bad. Despite another win against Ballkani, it was certain that Slavia had nothing in their hands.

And so it turned out. Cluj defeated the Kosovo team at home and the result against Slavia was irrelevant. However, Jindřich Trpišovský’s squad could not beat the team from Sivas even for the second time.

Why didn’t it work this time? “The basic key would be in the home games, we made only four points out of three, that’s the difference against the previous groups. The basis is born in them, you have to make seven or more points plus bring something from outside. The second thing is converting chances. We haven’t found a shooter who is dangerous.

In qualifying we knocked out Rakow and Panathinaikos, which were great teams and tough games, now they are the sovereign leaders in their competitions. We had that quality, but the players who dragged us through qualification, like Ševčík, Schranz or Holeš, were missing in the group,” said the coach of Slavia at the press conference.

Slavia’s failure is also a blow for the coefficient. The football public was expecting that picking up points in the group stage would be diametrically opposed and the situation at one point looked very good.

Now it is very likely that the target 15th place will not be maintained. However, Slavia cannot be blamed for this. It has collected 46.9 percent of the points of all Czech teams in the national pentathlon.
