Trpišovský before Ballkani: We have to win the game to keep our chances for promotion

Prague Slavia will play Ballkani in the penultimate match of the European Conference League and if they don’t win, they can say goodbye to the spring part, which is still far away. What did coach Jindřich Trpišovský say at the pre-match press conference?

After the draw, the fans of Slavia were satisfied with the difficulty of the group and few would have expected that progression was not certain. Slavia won only one of their four matches and have only 4 points.

So they have to win against Ballkani and hope that Sivasspor will not beat Cluj. In that case it would be quite difficult to advance, although nothing would be ruled out.

“We are concentrating on winning both games and getting six points. Our first step is against an opponent I have a lot of respect for, which I said before the first game and they also confirmed it in the group stage.

We have to manage the match and win in order to keep our chance until the last match,” said coach Jindřich Trpišovský at the press conference. His team is in good spirits now, having made a good day of rival Sparta on Sunday, which they crushed 4-0.

“It doesn’t help that we have three games. We have to enter the match well, perceive the offensive quality of the opponent and not fly in dimensions from bad to better performance and vice versa. We lack consistency of performance over an extended period of time in the fall,” he added.

Compared to the derby, he will have to spare Václav Jurecka and Jakub Hromadka, who are not on the roster for the EKL. Who will replace both players?

“For Hroma it’s probably obvious, it comes down to Christo Tiéhi. There are more options in the attack. For Yira, it’s a question mark. He trained on Monday and Tuesday like he used to after a long time. He’s a player for European games, giving his best performance there, which he hasn’t been doing well lately.

He’s an option for the game. We will sit with him again after training. He didn’t do well in Cluj or at Dukla. But he has extraordinary quality and we need him to help us,” concluded the coach of Slavia.
