Trpišovský: Another quarter-final? A demonstration of the work of the people in the club. Which team would you like?
Jindřich Trpišovský had a very interesting press conference after the 8th final match between Slavia and Linz. It was very contradictory. He spoke happily about the great performances of Holeš and Sor, about Friday’s quarter-final draw, but he was not happy about the loss and the two red cards.
Jindřich Trpišovský had a very interesting press conference after the 8th final match between Slavia and Linz. It was very contradictory. He spoke happily about the great performances of Holeš and Sor, about Friday’s quarter-final draw, but he was not happy about the loss and the two red cards.
SK Slavia Prague, led by coach Jindřich Trpišovský, lost 3:4 in the rematch with LASK Linz, but won their first home match 4:1 and could enjoy the promotion to the quarter-finals of the Conference Europa League.
On the one hand, Jindřich Trpišovský was very happy that he and his team were able to advance. However, he was disappointed that Slavia lost yesterday’s match after a very strange game in which they were even leading 3:1. In the end, the match ended 3:4 for Slavia.
Slavia didn’t enter the match well, but they struck first. It responded to the opponent’s comparison by scoring the second goal, which pleased Trpišovský. The coach of Slavia was clearly aware that they could have finished the match calmly, but a stupid sending off came.
“In the second half, the defensive performance from the boys was excellent, we didn’t let the opponent into any chances, we were in a passive block and defended well. We added a third goal, but then in the final period we finished with eight players with Standa Tecl at fullback. The end of the game was crazy and we prayed for it to be over,” says Jindřich Trpišovský for the SK Slavia Prague website.
The exclusion of Aiham Ousou and Srdjan Plavsic became a big complication for the upcoming quarterfinals. Slavia will play the first match without these two players. As for the first player, Trpišovský realizes that it was a stupid exclusion because the player was being prepared to watch his cards because he was facing a stoppage. For the second player, the red card was surprising and severe.
“I was surprised because we had the game well played even with ten men, we were leading and in control of the game, we threatened from other situations. We could have scored more than five goals again. On the other hand, defensively, even when the opponent had a territorial advantage after our exclusion, they had no chances and we always got a goal out of nowhere.”
Slavia has done great things in the last four years. They have made it to the Champions League group stage once and have played in the quarter-finals of European competition three times during that period. This is a very impressive achievement.
“I think it is a demonstration of the work of the people at the club. It is the effort of many people from the club management, the team, the implementer, the coaches, the scouts and the whole apparatus. maybe we don’t even realize it at the moment, but as a Czech club, playing three times in the quarterfinals of the European Cup in four years is a huge achievement.”
As for the draw for the quarter-finals, Feyenoord do not wish to face each other. Slavia has already played this team and failed to do well. Trpišovský would most like to see AS Roma or PSV Eindhoven.
According to Trpišovský, the best player on the pitch was Tomáš Holeš, who played an even better game than in the first game against Linz. Striker Yira Sor also played a great game and showed great things. He troubled the opponents defensively and helped Slavia a lot.
However, the coach had to criticize young Sor for not returning to the defense at the end of the game to help Stanislav Tecla. It was only Peter Olayinka who managed to talk Sora into returning to the defence more thoroughly. But that doesn’t change the fact that Yira Sor has a lot of potential and is playing incredible.
In the end, Trpišovský was sorry that Slavia lost and thus did not add points to the coefficient. That’s why he had conflicting feelings about the promotion. He would not have wanted to challenge the direct competitor for the 15th place in the coefficient, PAOK, in a direct match, because he had already played there once with his coaching team.
