Jarry had 39 saves and contributed a goal to Pittsburgh’s victory. He became the 14th goalie in NHL history to score a goal and the first in Penguins history. The last time Boston goalie Linus Ullmark accomplished such a feat was in a 3-1 win against Vancouver on February 25, 2023.

At 3:2 for the Penguins, it came. At 58:52 Jarry hit the empty net across the rink and the game was decided! He had already accomplished a similar feat in 2018 in the AHL with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
In total, this is the 17th goal by a goalie in the NHL (15 in the regular season and 2 in the playoffs). Only two goalies have managed to score more than once in that span. In particular, the legendary Martin Brodeur, who did it three times, and Ron Hextall, who only scored twice.
The NHL’s top scoring goaltenders to date
The first goalie to do it was Billy Smith. He scored on November 28, 1979 in the NY Islanders vs Colorado Rockies game. He was followed by Philadelphia’s Ron Hextall, who scored on December 8, 1987 against Boston. He added another goal on April 11, 1989 in Washington’s net.
Chris Osgood of Detroit was the next to score, on March 6, 1996 in Hartford. A year later, he was followed by New Jersey goalie Martin Brodeur, who scored in the Montreal net.
In 1999, these legends were joined by Ottawa goalie Damian Rhodes, who scored in the Devils’ net. Then Martin Brodeur again distinguished himself on February 15, 2000, when he scored in the Philadelphia net.
2. on January 1, 2001, the Canadiens goalie Jose Theodore joined in, scoring in the NY Islanders net. Then, San Jose goalie Evgeni Nabokov joined this elite club on March 10, 2002, scoring a goal for Vancouver. 14. on February 2, 2004, Buffalo goalie Mika Noronen scored in the Toronto net.
15. on 26 December 2011, Carolina goaltender Cam Ward made his mark in the annals of the NHL by putting the puck in the Devils’ net.
Mike Smith of Phoenix scored on October 19, 2013 in Detroit’s net and 7 years later Pekka Rinne of Nashville scored a goal for Chicago.
