Dallas lost a game of its own despite Doncic great performance
In the Dallas Mavericks vs. Philadelphia 76ers (116:120), the home team lost the game against a weakened 76ers squad at the American Airlines Center. Luka Doncic was again outstanding, but the Mavericks committed a total of 17 turnovers throughout the game.
Luka Doncic scored his 3rd consecutive triple-double. This time, the season’s top scorer put 38 points in the Philadelphia basket, grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out 10 assists to his teammates. It was the 13th time this season he has accomplished such a feat and he is already at 69 career triple-doubles. However, he also committed 7 turnovers himself.
This was also the deciding factor in the 76ers’ surprising success on the Dallas floor. Philadelphia was led by Tobias Harris with 28 points and Tyrese Maxey with 24 points. On the Mavericks side, Kyrie Irving helped Doncic with 28 points, but he also committed 4 turnovers.
Jusuf Nurkic had a rare 31 rebounds
In the Phoenix Suns vs. Oklahoma Thunder game (110:118), Jusuf Nurkic was very impressive with 31 rebounds in 32 minutes on the floor. He also scored 14 points. However, the home team lost to their opponent by 8 points.
Phoenix was weakened by Devin Booker, who injured his ankle in the previous game against Houston. Nurkic broke the club record for rebounds in a single game. No one in the NBA has seen that many rebounds in 14 years.
Tyson Chandler held the club record with 27 rebounds in January 2016. Nurkic surpassed his personal best by a full 8 rebounds. He still had 23 rebounds in a Portland jersey in 2019 and has two games this season with 22 rebounds.
However, Oklahoma controlled the game as they led by double digits at halftime. Although the Suns won the third passage of the game by 10 points, Oklahoma did not let the victory be taken away from them late in the game. Thunder players were traditionally led by the league’s second-leading scorer Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, this time with 35 points. On the other side, a healed Bradley Beal was the top scorer with 31 points.
