Transfer of the year sealed! Russell heads to the Black Arrows

Mercedes will have an all-British line-up next season. After Valtteri Bottas’ departure to Alfa Romeo, it was only a matter of waiting for George Russell to be confirmed in the team that has been at the top of F1 for the last seven years. The young Briton is considered by many to be Lewis Hamilton’s successor.
Russell will return to the Mercedes monocoque for the first time since 2020, when he jumped into the Bahrain’s Sakhir VC as a replacement for Hamilton.
Even then, he was not doing badly at all and was robbed of the win by a puncture on his left rear tyre a few laps from the end.
the 23-year-old Briton has been driving in F1 since 2019 and has a great record at Williams, especially in qualifying, where he has never once been beaten by a teammate.
This season he has taken his car to the last qualifying session on several occasions and even to the front row in Belgium.
It is also from Spa this year that he has his only F1 podium to date, albeit achieved under strange circumstances.
He’ll definitely have more chances at Mercedes. His mentor could be seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.
