Marco Verratti has left Paris Saint-Germain after eleven long years. The Italian midfielder, like other footballers, has moved to the Middle East, specifically to Qatar. Kylian Mbappé spoke very positively about the Pescara native.

The 30-year-old Verratti ended his long-standing, more specifically eleven-year tenure with the Paris Saint-Germain organisation this September.

In fact, the Qatari club Al Arabi expressed interest in the Italian international. Verratti is thus another player who moved to the Middle East this year. Not to Saudi Arabia, which became the number 1 transfer destination in the summer of 2023, but to Qatar.

PSG is collecting 45 million euros from the Al Arabi club. This is not the first deal Al Arabi and PSG have done together this summer. In fact, 27-year-old defender Abdou Diallo and 30-year-old Brazilian Raphinha left Paris for Qatar.

PSG players have already said goodbye to Verratti, some of them have said some very positive words about him. Kylian Mbappé, for example, said he was one of the best players he had ever seen.

“You are an exceptional person and it has been an immense pleasure to have had the privilege of playing with you these years. No one will ever forget what you have done here. One of the best players I’ve ever seen. Thank you my friend, I will miss you very much,” Mbappé wrote on Instagram.

Verratti at PSG

Verratti moved to the Parisian big club in July 2012, for twelve million euros from Pescara. During that time, the Italian international played 416 competitive matches in a PSG jersey, in which he recorded a record of 11 goals and 61 assists.

The star central midfielder also celebrated many successes with his now former employer. He has won the championship nine times, and six times the Coupe De France winner’s trophy.

He also won the French League Cup six times and the French Super Cup nine times. In his national team career to date, he has won gold at Euro 2020.
