Sparta lost 1:2 to Partizan Belgrade of Serbia in the rematch of the Conference playoffs. The central figure of the game was Partizan forward Ricardo Gomes, who scored both goals for the home team.
Ondřej Čelůstka, Matěj Pulkrab and Lukáš Juliš did not travel to Belgrade. On the other hand, Pavel Vrba could count on returnees Ladislav Krejci Jr. and Tomas Wiesner, while Casper Höjer also appeared on the bench.
Leten’s players did not come to Belgrade in great form. In their four matches in the top Czech competition they only managed to draw with České Budějovice and Plzeň. They only managed to win in the cup against Slavia.
This fact was unfortunately confirmed by Sparta right at the beginning of the match. Sacek got pushed by a Partizan player, who passed the ball to Ricardo Gomes, who finished under the left hand of Holc – 0::1.
Then Martin Vitik very unsurely passed to goalkeeper Dominik Holc and his little home almost ended in a goal. And it was even worse.
In the 24th minute, despite the astonishment of all Sparta players, a corner kick was ordered for the home team, which was turned into a goal by Partizan hero Gomes again. Neither of the Spartans went into the duel with him – 0::2.
And Partizan threatened, dominated the field and deservedly won the first half. And then Leten could have scored for the third time, but Vujacic’s goal was disallowed for offside. Sparta without a single shot on goal, with huge problems in Partizan’s pressing and especially with a very shaky performance of the midfield.
In the second half, although the play of Letná improved slightly, it did not lead to any major opportunities. On the contrary, Partizan relied mainly on breakthrough situations. Markovic missed a great chance in the 59th minute.
In the 66th minute, home cannonballer Gomes was sent off after receiving a second yellow card for simulation. It should be noted that it was undeserved. But even that didn’t bring any significant pressure from Sparta.
Leten finally got an honorable goal, after a standard situation in the 85th minute the ball bounced exactly on Adam Hložek’s foot and he made no mistake from close range – 1::2. But that was all they showed in the match. After a very poor performance, Sparta lost to Partizan Belgrade 1::2.
