He has also competed with the German team three times at the Euros, in 2012, 2016 and 2020. He played a total of 28 games at the World Cup and European Championship, in which he managed to score 3 goals. 17 in total.
“The decision has been made, it is unchangeable. It is for the benefit of me and my family. I want to be with her, I want to be a father and a husband. I have represented Germany until now and it was clear to me that I would not be available for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar,” Kroos announced Friday on the podcast website run by his brother Felix.
He made the announcement on his Instagram profile on Friday afternoon. “I played for Germany a hundred and six times. I won’t do it again. I made the decision to leave after this tournament a long time ago.”
Kroos made his debut for the national team on 3 March 2010, when he played in a friendly against Argentina.
At the World Cup in Rio de Janeiro he became the fastest scorer of two goals in a row when he scored two goals in an incredible 69 seconds in a 7-1 win over hosts Brazil.
