Much has been written about Ales Mandous. The Slavic goalkeeper drank the bitter cup to the bottom when he offered Feyenoord the winning goal at 1:2.
From that moment on, the Seychellois played like they were scalded and could not reverse the result. In the European Conference League, they say goodbye to the semi-finals.
However, the Slavic fans did not write off their goalkeeper and support him. They were joined by Tomas Vaclik, the number one player of the national football team.
“Even the best players in the world sometimes make a mistake that costs the team the final result. Unfortunately, it is most evident in our goalkeepers. Hang in there Mandy, you’re a great goalkeeper!” he wrote on his Twitter account.
Vaclik is well aware of how much it hurts Mandouse. The Slavia goalkeeper went to the post-match interviews where he apologized to his teammates and fans.
Now Slavia can concentrate purely on the league, which they lead by a point over Viktoria Plzen. But it is questionable whether Mandous will show up in Jablonec, even given the frequent rotation with Ondrej Kolář.
