Some of the Czech Republic’s best players at Euro 2020 have spoken out in a painful interview following their elimination from the championship. While disappointment and sadness were prevalent in the Czech striker, the outstanding goalkeeper also found positives.
Let’s start with Patrik Schick, who made a hole in the world at the tournament. His name is being heard by fans all over the world. At the same time, his performances are being noticed by analysts and, of course, the media.
the 25-year-old forward had some really impressive numbers at the tournament, with the xG (expected goals) statistic showing that he should have scored 2.58 goals. But the Czech forward exceeded this number almost 100%. Which means he scored goals that were very unlikely (difficult to score).
“I think we did our best and at the end we didn’t have the strength to turn it around and unfortunately we are finished,” said the Czech goal scorer.
“We all feel that we could have gotten more out of it today. The Danes were playable and we are sorry,” Schick concluded his assessment.
Tomas Vaclik is still officially without a contract, but he made a loud claim for one at the Euros. The Czech goalkeeper spoke mostly about the tournament. He highlighted the teamwork and the excellent support from players who didn’t even play.
“Given all the conditions , I am proud of the team, including the players and the management team. We can leave with our heads held high, we did our best to succeed,” he said in an interview with CT.
“Not many people believed in us before the tournament or before the games. But the way we all stuck together, that’s something special. And we also have a quality that many people don’t want to see,” the Czech football public was teased by the excellent goalkeeper Tomáš Vaclík.
His words about quality cannot be overlooked and cannot be disagreed with. The Czech team has made tremendous progress in the last two years and some Czech players are comparable if not better than top European footballers.
