Tomas Soucek scored a goal, but didn’t prevent West Ham’s defeat to Rangers

West Ham were unbeaten in their preliminary matches so far. However, after two wins and two draws, the first loss came against Scottish Rangers. The defeat was not prevented by Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal, who came on the pitch only in the 55th minute.

The Hammers are facing a very difficult season in which they will play for the first half of the table. At the same time, David Moyes’ team is planning an assault on the cup positions and is already actively shopping to achieve their goal. Moroccan defender Nayef Aguerd and English midfielder Flynn Downes have arrived from Rennes.

West Ham started their preparation very promisingly, after wins against Ipswich and Swiss Servette came two draws against Reading and Boreham. But yesterday they surprisingly lost 3-1 to Glascow Rangers at Ibrox Stadium.

The Hammers played an even first half against Rangers, but after the break they received two quick goals from Tom Lawrence and Ryan Kent.

The Czech midfielder got on the scoresheet when the Hammers were already down 2:0 and a few minutes later Matondo added a third goal.

Twenty minutes before the end of the match, Tomas Soucek adjusted the score after a corner kick from Jarrod Bowen. After the game he was very happy to score in Glasgow, but he also admitted that he and his teammates need to improve significantly before the start of the Premier League season.

I’m glad I got a few minutes on the pitch because it’s very important in pre-season.

At Rush Green I only did running sessions and a few more training sessions with the team, but these minutes are very important for me and one goal is something extra for my confidence as well.

It was a disappointing result but we have to push on in pre-season to get ready for the season.

The London club have two more pre-season games against Luton and Lens before the season starts with Manchester City.
