Tomáš Souček commented on his workload. How did the Czech captain evaluate the last national team meeting?
Tomáš Souček is the darling of most football fans who can appreciate commitment and fighting spirit. At West Ham, since his transfer from Slavia, it was basically the case that he was an absolutely untouchable man. There have been a few critical voices this season after a few poor results for the Hammers, but Soucek has managed to silence them every time.

There have been a few critical voices this season after a few poor results for the Hammers, but Soucek has managed to silence them every time.
In national football, he is mostly appreciated more by supporters of Slavia Prague, who brought him up for a big transfer to the British Isles. Among the Czech football public, he often faces criticism that he plays too often.
During the friendly against Wales, there were even voices that with his heavy workload he should have rested and others should have been given a chance.
But the question is whether we would want to have a captain who would not sacrifice himself for the team and lead it even in a blanked line-up. Tomas Soucek obviously loves football and is willing to play more or less every game. Which was basically confirmed by his words that he wrote on the social network Twitter.
In my opinion, he is a leader who can be seen as a role model by younger players in terms of professionalism and attitude.
On his Twitter account, Souček evaluated the last national team meeting, which definitely did not go the way we all wanted. The goal was to qualify for the 2022 World Cup, but we were eliminated in the semi-final after extra time with Sweden (0:1).
Instead of the final barrage with Poland, we travelled to Wales for a friendly. We drew with them 1:1, the only Czech goal was scored by captain Souček.
Tomáš Souček’s rating
Before we look at Soucek’s words, let’s focus on an interesting perspective that relates to the issue of the Czech football environment. It was offered by editor Jonáš Bartoš, who watched the match in Cardiff.
“Thank you very much for supporting the Czech national team in the World Cup qualification, play-offs and friendlies. I’m proud of the whole team, players, coaches and management team. They all went into every match with maximum interest to play, work and fight for the Czech country,” Souček wrote on Twitter.
“I am sorry that we didn’t make it to the World Cup. Nevertheless, I am convinced that the team has its strength, which it has shown several times during the qualification, in the Nations League and at EURO 2021. I believe that we will show our strength in the next national matches as well,” added the national captain.
Soucek also praised the national team’s newcomers and players he has never played with before. At the same time, he is already looking forward to the Nations League, where the Czech national team can look forward to great matches against Switzerland, Spain and Portugal.
