The UFC is definitely the world leader within mixed martial arts. The highest league in the world counts the emergence of many fighters every year and the ranks are left by the legends of the sport. The competition here is simply the highest.
Exactly two years ago, the American organization spotted a fighter from a small state in Europe who was set to shuffle the cards in the welterweight division. The champion of the Japanese organization RIZIN got as his first opponent the Swiss fighter Volkan Oezdemir.
The latter had eight fights in the UFC to that point and had never been knocked out in his career to date. Thus, there was no doubt about the toughness of this fighter and the Hosteradice native was given a stern test by Dana White to start.
From the first minute of the fight with Oezdemir, Walk developed the respect of all
From the first moments of the fight he became the darling of at least the UFC commentators, whom he charmed with his fighting style. “Look at him eat those punches, ” they cheered during the first round.
“This guy is crazy, but I love him,” they shouted enthusiastically when Jirka was just a minute into the fight. “I’d call him the Bruce Lee of the sport, ” they compared him to a fighting legend.
Although Procházka was “naked” at least twice during the first round, he was able to hit his opponent hard and the fight went into the second round.
Today, Procházka is the face of the organization
The second act had a clear course and a quick end. A very decent highkick, a right back and Oezdemir had a lot to do to stay on his feet. The pressure typical of Prochazka and a quick combination at the fence gave the Swiss fighter the feeling of the first shutdown of his career.
The whites of his eyes and a trip to dreamland. Oezdemir had a few minutes to get to his feet at all and the final verdict in favor of the Moravian fighter was attended in the corner on a chair.
We all know Prochazka’s next story in the UFC. Two years since the aforementioned bout, the Moravian samurai holds the organization’s championship belt and the then unknown fighter from the heart of Europe is now one of the main faces of the organization.
