He has two championship titles to his credit and is going for another. All at the age of 25. Max Verstappen has the potential to become one of the legends of Formula One. In a recent interview with Michael Lore, he mentions that although he loves racing, he sometimes thinks about what he will do after his active career is over.

Will Verstappen win a third consecutive world championship? As it currently stands, there is little doubt. Even if he does, the season is still long and we have eight grand prix races under our belt so far.

However, his dominance this season has been blatant. His performance is even more striking when compared to teammate Sergio Pérez.

First place in the drivers’ championship, 195 points, six races won out of eight, two second places in the other two. And last but not least, a clear shot at a third consecutive title. That’s Verstappen’s current record, which is frightening his rivals.

And it’s the title wins that are gradually satiating his hunger as a racer. His biggest dream, that of winning the overall championship, has come true. In an interview with Lore, Verstappen admits that he has gained a new perspective on his career after winning titles.

“It’s about desire. If you don’t win them, you keep trying to achieve something like that. Now that I’ve won them, it’s nice to win more and more. But it’s basically the same thing. So it’s not something that will keep me here (in F1) forever,” Verstappen said in an interview.

“It’s about whether I can motivate myself to stay (in Formula 1) every year, ” the Red Bull driver explained.

Contract until 2028, what then?

Verstappen has a contract with Red Bull until 2028, the period when the Dutch driver celebrates his 30th birthday. However, it is unlikely that he will end his career so soon, although the fact remains that he is already thinking about what he will do after his career is over.

Future plans are already forming in his mind, but at the moment it is difficult to make them happen. The reason is simple – he is too busy with his F1 career.

I love racing, I still love it, but sometimes, one day, I want to do things outside of Formula 1,” Verstappen confirmed in an interview.
