Title controversy cannot devalue Max’s title, comes from Red Bull. Do you agree?

The championship title has been decided long ago, emotions are gradually fading. However, there are still statements that at least get fans up off their seats, couches or chairs. Red Bull boss Christian Horner has spoken again about Verstappen’s title.

Who deserved the championship more? Was what happened in the last race of the season the right thing to do? There are still many questions and that is why new interviews are being made and more statements are being made, which of course may not leave anyone cold.

But the undisputed fact is that the way Michael Masi approached that grand finale in Abu Dhabi caused a huge backlash from all fans and greatly tarnished the name of Formula 1. This is also what the recent statement from the FIA says.

During the winter break there is to be an investigation into what actually happened at the Yas Marina circuit over the last few rounds and also some sort of rule changes. In any case, Red Bull believe that these controversies should not devalue Verstappen’s title.

According to Christian Horner, all the doubts will disappear in time and in the years to come, all that will be remembered is the beautiful but fierce battle for the title.

“People in our sport have very short memories. We even forgot some situations this year because it was a really long season,” Horner told Motorsport.

“I think Max is a very deserving world champion when you look at the championship as a whole. Of course, the events on Sunday caused some controversy and an awful lot of comment. But that just happens in sport,” explains the Red Bull boss.

“We’ve had a lot of bad luck this year. But we were lucky with the safety car at the end and we also made some great strategic moves. That’s why we won the race – thanks to great strategy and teamwork, Max drove a fantastic race,” he says.

At the end of the interview, Horner adds that in time, everyone will have to acknowledge this. Red Bull, headed by Horner, is duly proud of the Dutch driver and, he says, the historical tables will always show who became World Champion in 2021.
