Time for future national team leaders. Lingr and Krejci are already in the squad, who else will get a chance?

One national team cycle is over, the Czech national team did not make it to the World Championships. It will now have to qualify for the EURO, which is relatively easy to get to after the expansion. So it is the perfect time to give a chance to the future leaders of the national team, whether coach Jaroslav Šilhavý or someone else will continue.

The Czech national team has a friendly against Wales, with games against Switzerland, Spain and Portugal in the Nations League in June and Spain again.

This is an ideal opportunity to bring in young faces who can pull the national team forward in the future. Who should that be?

Ondrej Lingr

The Slavic all-rounder can play anywhere in the offensive line. He made his national team debut against Sweden and should get a chance in the starting lineup against Wales. On the right wing, the Czech team is a bit of a shoe-in, and Lingr could be the long-term solution.

Ladislav Krejci

Sparta’s Bulldog, who also made his national team debut. It’s a bit more complicated for him, as the centre of the national team’s midfield is well manned by the pair of Soucek (27) – Sadilek (22), who still have a few years ahead of them. Even so, Krejci should gradually work his way in, possibly at stopper, where he often makes great alternatives.

David Zima

He has already made a few starts for the national team, but has been more of a substitute so far. He managed the duel in Sweden decently, now it’s his time to prove that he can be the leader of the defensive line in the years to come.

David Jurasek

The most problematic position for the current Czech national team? Left-back. Jan Bořil has been out for almost the entire season and even given his age, his return to the national jersey is complicated. He could be replaced by a teammate, David Jurásek, who shows great potential in Slavia. He could have even been in the nomination for Sweden, but he got injured.

Pavel Bucha

An agile midfielder who can play anywhere in the centre of midfield. The 24-year-old is an important part of Plzeň’s line-up, which leads the league. He certainly deserves his chance.

Daniel Samek

The 18-year-old is only in his first season among adults, but he has already managed to score 3 goals and 3 assists. His nomination to the A-team is a question of the longer future, but his turn will surely come.
