Left-back Kieran Tierney has moved to London Arsenal from Celtic Glasgow, who cashed in around €27m for their former mainstay.
Since his arrival in north London, Tierney has managed to appear in 112 games in which he has scored five goals to which he has added thirteen assists.
The former Celtic player managed to triumph with Arsenal in the FA Cup and the Community Shield. Since his arrival in London, he has become a fans’ favourite due to his attitude and commitment to the club.
In the last three seasons he has had a secure place on the left side of defence. However, that changed after the summer arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko, who relegated Tierney to the substitutes’ bench.
This season, Tierney has started sixteen league games, in which he has made only four appearances in the starting lineup.
The incisive defender is not happy with his situation at the club and will resist a summer exit unless his situation changes.
Manager Mikel Arteta was also asked about Tierney’s future. “I don’t know, I don’t think about it. I’m thinking about what’s best for the team and the players,” he told a news conference.
The Scottish international is being courted by Newcastle United, who are willing to pay the asking price of around €30 million. The player himself will not resist the transfer unless his situation in north London changes.
