Champions League final. Together with the World Cup Final, the most watched game in the world, and one that millions of fans are eager to get to. But only a select few, or those who don’t mind paying the big bucks, will get the chance.

Real Madrid and Liverpool have reached this year’s Champions League final of the 2021/22 edition. Immediately after the magical turnaround against Manchester City, thousands of Los Blancos fans around the world started scouting for tickets for the final in Paris. But they hit hard.

The Stade de France, where the final will be played, has a capacity of 75,000 spectators. But UEFA offered the two clubs only 20 000 tickets, sent 12 000 to the lottery and kept the remaining 23 000 for themselves and their partners. This was much criticised by Liverpool’s coach, Jürgen Klopp.

“If we get 20,000, they get 20,000, where is the other 35,000? It’s about money, that’s how it is, UEFA has never been a saint. Now they’ve lost a bit of money, so the easiest way to get it back is by increasing ticket prices,” Klopp criticised the organisation.

And what about the lottery? UEFA put 12,000 tickets on sale on its website, for which you had to send in an application by 28 April, before it was clear who would qualify for the final. UEFA then drew lots from all the applicants to choose who would be eligible to buy tickets. Prices range from 70 euros to 690 euros.

But the interest was so huge that the chances of achieving a ticket purchase were practically slim. Just like winning the lottery in a sporting event.

How to get tickets?

So what are the other chances of getting tickets for the final? Real Madrid sent out emails to their socios (partners) who had the chance to buy tickets. However, due to the small number (20,000) of tickets allocated, even Los Blancos had to draw lots among their socios for the right to buy a ticket. The tickets allocated to Liverpool were also distributed by season ticket holders.

There is a third option, one that is already taking real shape, but not financially. And that is buying from third parties, through intermediaries. However, it must be remembered that these companies will heal properly at the next events, which is why the prices climb to dizzying heights.

In the Czech market, two verified sellers sell tickets for the finals. Czechsporttravel offers tickets to Paris for 90 190,- CZK. Fotbaltour goes even higher and offers one ticket from CZK 121,300.

Abroad we can find tickets a bit cheaper. The company Ticombo offers tickets to the match between Real Madrid and Liverpool for 2 750 euros, converted to 68 830,- CZK. The Livefootballtickets website offers tickets from £2,840, which works out at CZK 82,900. Do not buy tickets at any price from Viagogo, which has a long history of ticket fraud and is not a verified seller.

Many fans will have to watch the final at home or in a pub. Real Madrid, at least apparently as in previous years, will offer their fans to watch on big screens at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, the price of one ticket is 5 euros, socios get in for free.
