Petra Kvitova, Karolina Pliskova and Barbora Krejcikova – these Czech tennis players are among the seeds for this year’s Wimbledon tournament. However, it is not only singles, the Czech Republic will have other seeded players in doubles as well.

Last year’s finalist Pliskova will be the sixth seed at Wimbledon. Another seven positions further, i.e. the thirteenth seeded player will be the Brno native Krejcikova, the two-time winner of this famous tournament will be seeded number 25.

Although the former is the seventh best player in the world, she will be seeded sixth in the All England Club tournament due to the enforced absence of Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka.

Russia’s Darya Kasatkina will also not enter the tournament, so Krejcikova will defend last year’s result (the Wimbledon eight-finals – ed.) and attack for a bigger success from the thirteenth position.

Kvitova, who is currently ranked 31st in the WTA rankings, has also moved up six positions thanks to the absence of four other tennis players – Veronika Kudermetova, Ekaterina Alexandrova, Victoria Azarenka and Canadian Leylah Fernandez.

As far as doubles is concerned, Krejcikova and Kateryna Siniakova will attack another significant success from the position of the seeded deuces, who can get their second triumph at the All England Club.

As for the men’s seedings, the number one position will be held by Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon, thanks to the absence of two star tennis players Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev. The second seed is the legendary Spaniard Rafael Nadal.

The highest seeded women’s tennis player is Iga Swiatek of Poland, while the second highest seed at Wimbledon will be Anett Kontaveit of Estonia.
