This is totally unacceptable! Chelsea reacted to the video that went viral on social networks. Gallagher has received a lot of criticism
Chelsea played their 30th Premier League home game against Burnley last weekend, but only drew 2-2. But after the game, the most talked about video on social media was the one that went around the football world. And that was when Conor Gallagher didn’t shake hands with a dark-skinned boy.
Chelsea played their 30th Premier League home game against Burnley last weekend, but only drew 2-2. After the game, however, the most talked about video on social media went around the football world. And that was when Conor Gallagher didn’t shake hands with a dark-skinned boy.
Chelsea have been in pretty good form in recent games for this season. They have taken three wins from five games, beating Leeds 3-2 and Leicester 4-2 in the FA Cup, plus a league win at home to Newcastle (3-2).
On the other hand, in the 27th round they only drew at Brentford 2: 2, the same result also came on Saturday. The London club welcomed Burnley to Stamford Bridge in the 30th round of the Premier League.
Although VAR disallowed Disasi’s goal in the 20th minute because of his hand, twenty-one-year-old Cole Palmer scored from a penalty before the end of the first half.
Needless to say, the visitors cashed in two red cards. Lorenz Assignon received the second yellow in the 40th minute, and three minutes later Vincent Kompany received a straight red from outside the area. However, Josh Cullen still equalised at the start of the second half.
In the 78th minute Palmer scored his second goal, but three minutes later Dara O’Shea equalised to make it 2-2, which also set the final score. But instead of a disappointing result, the issue before the game was resolved when Gallagher failed to shake the hand of a dark-skinned boy.
Chelsea reacts to video…
The video subsequently made the rounds of the football world, with Gallagher receiving considerable criticism on social media, with swear words also appearing. However, Chelsea responded to this via an official statement in which they describe the video as out of context.
“Chelsea Football Club is aware that a video clip from Saturday’s game against Burnley has been circulating on social media and has been taken significantly out of context,” the London club said on its official website.
“The subsequent insults and derogatory comments about Conor Gallagher are completely unacceptable. We pride ourselves on being a diverse and inclusive club where people from all cultures, communities and identities feel welcome,” the statement also read.
