He holds several spectacular championships. Jiri Prochazka became the first ever fighter from the Czech Republic to win a title in Rizin. He was the first to compete in a UFC main event and the first to win a title in the best organization in the world.

The biggest moment of his career came on June 12, 2022. He was down on points in his now legendary battle with Glover Teixeira, but sensationally won on a rear-naked choke with half a minute left in the fight.

Walk became the first man ever to take Teixeira to a submission. A rematch was arranged fairly soon and was to take place on December 10. But it wasn’t going to happen. The Moravian fighter has seriously injured his shoulder and will have to take a long break.

It is estimated that he will be out for about a year. He has given up the belt and Jan Blachowicz and Magomed Ankalaev will fight for the title at UFC 282. The injury has understandably affected Prochazka, but he’s not looking discouraged.

Prochazka sends a message of encouragement

“There are no obstacles. Just an opportunity to see the same path from a different angle and to be stronger and more human. Once you embrace the path of a warrior, or just be completely honest with yourself, then you know deeply what is a lie and what is the truth, where your path is,” reads the beginning of the message Procházka shared on social media.

“The title? I became UFC champion 5 months ago and the current situation doesn’t change my inner feeling as a champion. This is the feeling and the reason I started MMA. Tobe a champion among the best and to be the best of the best,” he added.

The Moravian fighter says he will be honored to see the performance of the new welterweight champion. But he is equally intent on showing who is the rightful champion. He thanked his fans for their support and trust.

“This is the beginning of something bigger,” Procházka concluded his statement.
