This is not true! Victor Osimhen’s agent responds to false reports about his refusal to extend his contract
There’s a lot of activity around Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian striker is on the radar of several famous European clubs in this summer transfer window. However, the signing of a new contract at Napoli is also in play, with his agent Roberto Calenda reacting to a recent report regarding his alleged refusal to continue staying at the Partenopei.
Victor Osimhen is undoubtedly one of Napoli’s biggest stars. After all, last season he single-handedly procured 26 goals in 32 league games, contributing significantly to winning the Scudetto after thirty-three long years.
Understandably, a number of European big clubs have shown interest in him this summer transfer window. Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich have been among the first to do so.
However, as Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has previously stated, if anyone wants to bring the Lagos native, they must prepare a minimum of €180 million.
And he also noted that the French giant is the only bidder who can really think about engaging him. For PSG, Osimhen would be the number 1 alternative in case Kylian Mbappé leaves the club later this summer.
However, the Lagos native’s agent reacted to a completely different matter via his Twitter account on Monday afternoon.
Osimhen is now under contract at the reigning Serie A champions until the end of June 2025. De Laurentiis has also previously stated that the priority for the Partenopei is to keep the Nigerian forward. A contract extension is therefore still in play in this transfer window.
In fact, Italian server Il Mattino has reported that Osimhen has rejected that contract extension in Naples. But according to his agent, this is false news.
“I read in Il Mattino that Osimhen does not intend to extend his contract in the summer and that he wants to explore all options on the market first. This is fake news,” Calenda responded on Twitter.
