They love Vindheim in Germany! How do the fans react to his performance?
Andreas Vindheim shone in his first start for Schalke. He had a hand in four goals, scoring one himself, assisting another and playing a big part in the rest of the action. In Germany, the ex-Spartan defender has been driving them crazy.

If assists were counted in Germany like in the NHL, Andreas Vindheim would have his stats taken care of.
On the first goal, he centred into the penalty area, where Simon Terodde headed the ball into the net after the rebound. The second one, after a breakaway, he scored himself with a beautiful shot under the lid. In the second half, Schalke led 4-0. Danny Latza scored after a Vindheim centre to the far post.
The fifth and final goal was also scored by a Norwegian defender who avoided an offside trap and sent the ball into the box with a cross, where it was knocked down by one of the defending players. Marvin Pieringer then had only the goalkeeper in front of him.
Immediately after the game, an avalanche of praise was heaped on the debutant’s head on social media. According to some, he should even be included in the team of the week in the famous FIFA game.
“Today we could see how important the signing of Andreas Vindheim was. Finally we are no longer dependent on Ouweyan and can use both wings,” said one fan.
“The hosting of Vindheim has already paid off. I’m happy. Thank you Rouven Schröder!”
“Vindheim is officially the best Norwegian in the world,” said another.
But it’s not just the cheers that are rippling through the internet, there are also sceptical questions about the Norwegian wing-back’s long-term performance.
“Vindheim made an excellent debut. But I can’t say if he can maintain his form,” one fan worried.
“Vindheim is really strong, but he also had 200 square metres of space for his actions during the match. We’ll see how he does against teams that defend better,” said a Schalke fan on social media.
I can’t predict how Vindheim’s time at Schalke will develop. But I can say for sure that he is a big favourite with the fans there. At one point, his name was even the sixth most searched hashtag on German Twitter.
