They can look forward to a big reinforcement in Poland. The former Arsenal and Bayern Munich striker has signed for Górnik Zabrze

2014 World Champion Lukas Podolski will play in the Polish Ekstraklasa. He signed for Górnik Zabrze after his stint in Antalyaspor, Turkey. It will be the first engagement in Poland for the native of Gliwice.

The former Germany international last wore the jersey of Turkish Antalyaspor, where he became a free agent after the end of this season.

Some may have expected Podolski to hang up his cleats, but there is still time for that.

Thirty-six-year-old Podolski has previously played for Cologne, Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Inter Milan, Vissel Kobe and the aforementioned Antalyaspor.

Arab clubs, as well as clubs from Turkey, were interested in his services.

The experienced forward decided to join the club in his native Poland. He agreed a one-year contract with Górnik Zabrze with an option.

This is a big transfer for Ekstraklasa, as it is not usual for Polish clubs to bring players of this calibre into their ranks.
