Gareth Bale will not be returning to football after all. The famous owners of the Welsh non-professional club called Wrexham, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, lured the former national team player to their squad, but he rejected the offer.
Gareth Bale will not be returning to football after all. The famous owners of the Welsh non-professional club called Wrexham, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, lured the former national team player to their squad, but he rejected the offer.
It would have been a huge bombshell and a sensation. Unfortunately, it’s very unlikely to happen. The former Welsh international Gareth Bale has turned down Wrexham’s offer and will not be returning to football.
It all started with a post on Twitter by McElhenney. In the video, he invites Bale to go golfing and promises not to spend four hours trying to persuade him to return for one last magical season.
Bale and Reynolds then join the conversation as well. However, the thirty-three-year-old Welshman was quite clear on the subject in a later interview with The Guardian.
“I don’t think I would go back. I’d rather play golf with Rob. We’ll have a chat, a laugh, but I’m quite happy where I am. I spend a lot of time with my kids, with my wife. I lost a lot of time during my years in football. Now I enjoy family life and sometimes golf,” Bale said.
The former Tottenham and Real Madrid footballer is clearly happy in his football retirement.
Wrexham are currently in the fifth highest league, but recently secured promotion to the top flight. And if they win their last game at Torquay on Saturday, they will close the season with 113 points.
It should be added, that the purchase of this club was not just a cry of boredom for the actors, is proved by the footage directly from the stadium, which shows how much they enjoy every game. McElhenney even cried tears of joy after the procedure.
However, the actual promotion up a league is just the beginning of a long journey that the owners hope will one day end in the Premier League.
