In May, TV Spektrum will premiere a documentary called Schumacher & Schumacher. This film focuses on the life and career of father and son Michael Schumacher and Mick Schumacher. Take a look at two of the most interesting careers in motorsport history.
The story of father and son
Michael Schumacher is undoubtedly one of the most successful drivers in Formula One history. He was born in 1969 in Hürth, Germany. When he was four years old, his father Rolf showed him the magic of racing, which young Michael fell for. Gradually, he worked his way up to the highest category of motorsport and began to pick up one victory after another.
During his career he won seven world championships, 91 victories and 155 podium finishes. Mick Schumacher is the son of the aforementioned star. He started racing at the age of nine, often using the pseudonyms Mick Junior or Mick Betsch, which is his mother’s maiden name.
Some sources say that he did this to get out of his famous father’s shadow. However, this does not mean that he has a bad relationship with Michael. Reportedly, Michael and Mick have always had a strong bond and Mick even expressed recently that he wishes he could have a proper chat with his dad now.
Fatal accident
The famous Michael Schumacher, however, has also faced some big problems alongside his huge successes. Although he has only been seriously injured once during a race in his entire career, when he broke his leg after a brake failure, he suffered a serious head injury off the track in 2013.
The accident occurred on December 29 while skiing in the Alps, where he went to the aid of a friend’s daughter who was in trouble near his own chalet in Méribel, France. While skiing down an ungroomed slope, he suffered a fall during which he hit his head on a rock. He was in a coma for some time and underwent two head operations.
After a month, doctors gradually began to bring him out of the coma, and six months after the accident Schumacher left the hospital. Since then, he’s closed himself off from the world. His current state of health is unknown and his family has not spoken publicly about him. The media is therefore more speculative about his current condition.
The documentary Schumacher & Schumacher not only tells the story of this world-famous racing driver and his son, but also a number of interesting facts. The documentary Schumacher & Schumacher promises to bring not only entertainment, but also a lot of emotions and inspiration for all motorsport fans. Watch the premiere on May 28, 2023 at 17::00 on Spectrum TV.
