Viktoria Plzeň were the best team at the end of the last league season, leapfrogging Slavia to take the league title. They are now fighting for a place in the Europa League qualifiers.
The first match of the third Champions League preliminary round was played in Finland, where they defeated HJK Helsinki 2-1. They took a comfortable lead into the home return leg on Tuesday.
“There is a good mood in the team, but we have a tough match ahead of us, we have already seen the quality of our opponent in Finland. We’re fired up, we’re looking forward to the match. We expect people to drive us and it will turn out well for us,” Jan Hejda told iSport.
Viktoria will be propelled to progress by a sold-out stadium with over 10,000 people in attendance. The Viktoria team will have their way pretty well mapped out, just to finish everything and advance further.
“People have always come to Plzeň, we are grateful to them. Players always play better in front of a full stadium. We all feel that we are very strong at home, on the other hand, away games are sometimes on our side. I believe we can handle the rematch and advance,” he added.
The match will be played on Tuesday at 7pm. Sparta and Slavia will then play their rematch on Thursday. The former is going to Norway with a must-win attitude, while the latter is already in the pocket thanks to the result from the first match.
