Theo Hernández made his first start for the French national football team during the last national break. It happened on Tuesday, 7 September, when the 23-year-old left-back started the match against Finland from the start of normal time. Afterwards, he talked about playing in the national team with his brother, the goals AC Milan have set for this season, and at the end he also told the TV about Zlatan Ibrahimovic and new signing Olivier Giroud.

Theo Hernández was born on 6 October 1997 in Marseille. Although he is originally from France, he first got acquainted with football in the jersey of Spanish club Majadahonda, which was operating in the third league at the time.

A year later, he transferred to Atlético Madrid, but did not play a single competitive match for the A-team and only played in the B-team.

He is also one of the few players who left Atlético to join their city rival, Real Madrid. There are very few players who can afford to do that. Although Hernández has never actually played for the Rojiblancos’ first team.

With Real Madrid, the left-back managed to win the Champions League or even the Spanish Super Cup. However, in all his time in Spain, he failed to break into the starting lineup over Brazilian Marcelo and was always just a substitute for the team. He found his place at AC Milan, where he has been playing regularly and successfully for two years now.

Moreover, Hernández managed to score his first major milestone for his native France last Tuesday. The match against Finland was the first in which he started for the national team.

Of course, such an achievement did not go unnoticed and earned the Frenchman an interview with the Téléfoot television station.

He first spoke about his dream of playing with his brother Lucas in the national team. He then added that he didn’t think his brother had any skills that would be useful to him. He boasted, among other things, of his great productivity.

I am very happy in Milan. It was fantastic from the beginning and that is still true today. The main goal is to win Serie A. We have a great team and winning Serie A is what we are going to work towards.”

Finally, he commented on his two star attacking teammates. “Zlatan is very nice, we are very close. He’s maybe a bit crazy, but that’s okay! Olivier is an amazing personality and a great player. He’s having a great season in Milan, he’s going to have a great season,” believes Hernández.
