All wrong, AS Roma are experiencing their worst start to a new season since they started awarding three points for a win. The current situation was commented by AS coach José Mourinho, for whom it is also the worst start of the new season.

AS Rome lost 1:4 to Genoa in the sixth round of Serie A on Thursday evening. Albert Gudmundsson opened the scoring in the fifth minute. The Giallorossi equalised seventeen minutes later when Bryan Cristante scored.

However, it was the only goal scored by the visitors in this match. Genoa struck late in the first half, with Mateo Retegui pulling the lead back.

In the second half, they followed up their performance with two more accurate goals. In the 74th minute Morten Thorsby made it 3-1, and seven minutes later former AC Milan player Júnior Messias scored to make it 4-1.

The Giallorossi thus have only five points after six games in this Serie A season, with a score of 13:11, and are only 16th in the table.

The club has therefore recorded their worst start to a season since they started to make three points for a win. José Mourinho has also spoken on the subject, for whom this is again the worst start to a new season in his entire coaching career.

Worst start to a season for Mourinho and AS

Needless to say, Mourinho’s second worst start was in the 2015/16 season when he led Chelsea London. There, he earned only one more point. AS Roma won only once, drew twice and lost three times in six games.

“It’s also the worst start of my career. But at the same time, I think this is the first time (in the club’s history) that Rome has played two European finals in a row,” Mourinho said in a post-match interview, pointing to the fact that he was the one who secured AS two finals in a row.

In that post-match interview with DAZN Special One, he refused to answer questions from the studio and only communicated with a reporter on the pitch.

“I apologize to the studio, but I don’t really feel like talking. I haven’t spoken to the players so I can’t discuss in depth with you and answer your questions,” Mourinho said in the post-match interview.

“We don’t have time to cry here. It hurts our hearts, especially me because of my relationship with the Rome fans. But tomorrow we will go back to work, the next game must be worth three points,” Mourinho concluded.
