T-Mobile Park hosted the 15th game of the Winter Classic, which drew 47,000 fans and brought Seattle and Las Vegas together. The hero of the game was infielder Joey Daccord, who became the first player in the history of outdoor games not to score.

Daccord the hero of the game

15. the Winter Classic game brought together the Seattle Kraken and the Vegas Golden Knights (3: 0). The hero of the game was goalie Joe Daccord, who became the first goalie in the Winter Classic not to score. He made 35 saves in the game.

Daccord said it was a special day for the city and his team. On the Seattle Mariners’ home field, 47,313 spectators literally devoured every save made by their goalie. Meanwhile, the Krakens’ goalie was thrust into the number one goalie position thanks to an injury to goalie Philipp Grubauer on Dec. 10.

Since then, he has started eight games and celebrated six of them with his team. However, the win and the clean sheet at the Winter Classic is the most valuable triumph of his career so far. Anyway, Daccord grabbed the chance for “armpits” and Grubauer will have a very hard time when he returns.

Seattle was in control of the game

On the other side of the crease, Logan Thompson prevented 24 shots from finding their way into the net. But he still scored three times and didn’t prevent another defeat for his team. Las Vegas fell for the fifth time in the last six games. Fortunately, the season is not even halfway through and the defending Stanley Cup champions have plenty of time to pick up their game.

Seattle struck relatively early, taking the lead in the fifth minute of the first period when Vince Dunn was able to slip the puck into the net. Then Eeli Tolvanen gave Seattle a two-goal lead in the third minute of the second period. Yanni Gourde scored the game-winning goal at 42:10 to make it 3-0.

In the history of the Winter Classic, Seattle played its first ever outdoor game. It was the second experience for the Las Vegas Golden Knights. The first was in Lake Tahoe in 2021.

Seattle moved into ninth place in the Western Conference, two points behind the Arizona Coyotes. Las Vegas remains in third place despite another defeat.

The Winter Classic once again lived up to the fans’ expectations with this duel. Moreover, the rookie from Seattle, who is only in his second season in the NHL, got a sweet victory in his debut. It should be noted that it was well deserved thanks to the hero of the game Daccord.
