The Williams sisters won’t be successful in their last tournament together. The US Open ended for them in the first round, where they were stopped by the Czech duo Hradecka – Noskova.

The Czech tennis players will not forget this match. A fantastic 23,000 spectators came to the first round of the US Open doubles, and even though they drove the American opponents forward, it was a strong experience for the Czechs.

The reason for such a large attendance was the Williams sisters’ farewell tournament. It was thus the last professional match in which the sisters stood next to each other on the court.

But to the sadness of those watching, the duel did not go well for the American duo. The Czech pair lost in two sets and dropped out of the tournament in the first round.

Linda Noskova and Lucie Hradecka outplayed their opponents 7::6 and 6::4. Especially for Noskova it was a great experience as Serena Williams is her role model.

“It was definitely my greatest tennis experience. Every personal singles win is also important, especially the Junior Grand Slam meant a lot to me, but this was one of my dreams. I was happy just to play against them,” beamed Noskova after the match.

For Serena Williams, however, the tournament is not over yet. She made a fantastic run to the third round here, knocking out world number two Kontaveit on her way. She will face Tomljanovic in her next match.
