The unstoppable Ronaldo is the top scorer of 2023! In the last match, he outperformed Mbappé and Kane

The ageless Cristiano Ronaldo scored two goals in the penultimate game of 2023 to become this year’s top scorer. The strikes into the Al Ittihad net in the 5-2 win marked goals number 52 and 53, surpassing Kylian Mbappé and Harry Kane as both have now scored one less.

The ageless Cristiano Ronaldo scored two goals in the penultimate game of 2023 to become this year’s top scorer. The strikes into the Al Ittihad net in the 5-2 win marked goal numbers 52 and 53, surpassing Kylian Mbappé and Harry Kane as both have now scored one less.

Cristiano becomes top scorer in 2023

PSG’s Kylian Mbappé and Harry Kane have scored 52 goals this year and will add more in 2024 as their leagues have a winter break. Cristiano Ronaldo had one fewer goal before the game, but was a significant contributor in Al Nassr’s win over Al Ittihad.

The match in the top Saudi league ended 5-2 to Ronaldo’s team and the Portuguese himself scored twice. First he equalised from a penalty to make it 1-1 and then from the same situation he scored the winning goal for Al Nassr, who are in second place with a seven-point deficit to Al Hilal.

Cristiano Ronaldo equalised Mbappé and Kane with goal number 52 and then went on to beat them. The duo will not add another hit and the Portuguese is likely to end the 2023 calendar year as top scorer.

Haaland still has a chance to beat Ronaldo if he returns

Let’s not forget Manchester City’s famed goalscorer. Erling Haaland has 50 goals so far, so he is three shots behind Ronaldo. The Citizens will play two more games this season.

First they will play Everton on 27 December and then they will welcome Sheffield United at home on 30 December. So the Norwegian marksman has two more games to match or surpass Ronaldo.

However, Haaland has missed Manchester City’s last few games due to injury. He is also likely to miss the game against Everton, so even if he returns just before the New Year, he is unlikely to surpass Ronaldo.

In addition, Al Nassr also has one game on December 30. They will head to Al Taawon, where Cristiano Ronaldo can improve his 53 goals scored statistic.
